Meet the Coaches

Nick Berger

Head Coach

Defensive Coordinator

I started playing sports in elementary and continued into high school. I played Soccer in Hong Kong, Baseball in Colorado, and Football in California. I was born in Fort Collins and my parents divorced when I was very young. I grew up living out of state in California, and out of country in the Netherlands and Hong Kong. I always traveled back to Colorado to visit when school was on break. I flew alone six times a year on 12 to 14 hour flights through elementary school. I moved seven times before graduating from Poudre High School and going on to CSU.

I found football in Elementary school and when we moved back to the United States, I went out for tackle. I started as center and right guard in middle school and left guard and on special teams in high school. I have always loved football. My first favorite team was the 49ers and then it became the Broncos. I used to go to Broncos training camp when it was in Greeley and I was able to get John Elways autograph. I was on the Broncos season ticket waiting list for 13 years and now have season tickets in the south end zone.

I have two kids, one in elementary and one in middle school. I am married and have been for 19 years. We have a cat and a dog and live in Fort Collins.

I have been coaching football for 8+ seasons.

My Purpose as a Coach.

I’m driven to protect and support athletes in my care by coaching with honesty, encouragement, and heart—helping players build confidence, belief in themselves, and resilience, so they feel they belong and grow courage then can carry with them on and off the field.

Jon Leiper

Offensive Coordinator

Hello my name is coach Jon. I have been coaching youth football for the last 11 seasons. Tackle, hybrid, and 7v7. I have a passion for football. I played Wide Receiver and Corner Back in High School for Loveland High. I enjoy teaching the game and seeing how the boys grow from the beginning of the season to the end of the season. I'm looking forward to being part of the Valor family and preparing the boys for the next step of their football journey.
